Why are there so many religions, so many schools of thought about what’s next – is there more to life than this? All people feel it, sense it and look for the answer. And it’s because we are bodies have a spiritual experience, we’re spiritual beings having a bodily experience. We were made for more.

The fourth I am statement, I Am the Good Shepherd, gives us a further glimpse into who God is. He cares for us and He comes against what comes after the sheep. The only path to safety, security and eternal life is through the Good Shepherd.

In world of plurality, where the claim of many paths to God is common place, Jesus makes a bold statement of truth, “I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture.” Whoever enters by the door, get the Son.

In the second of his “I Am” statements Jesus declared ‘I am the light of the world.” He didn’t claim to reflect the light or to point people to the light, he declares that HE is the light, that and whoever follows him will never walk in darkness.

Bread has been referred to as the “Staff of Life,” its still a staple in many cultures today. When Jesus said “I am the Bread of Life,” he was declaring not only his divinity but the necessity of Jesus for everlasting life.
